ERDI – Supervisor
Course Overview: The purpose of the Emergency Response Diving Supervisor course is to qualify the experienced emergency response diver as a leader and supervisor of the public safety dive unit. It also serves as a base to develop leadership skills and qualities and acts as a prerequisite to ERDI Instructor Training. This course is tailored to rescue / recovery oriented personnel but is open to non-emergency service personnel as well.
Course Topics: This course is comprised of three parts; classroom, confined water skills and evolutions, and open water skills, evolutions, and realistic scenarios. Topics discussed are:
– ERDI Standards and Policies
– Risk vs. Benefit Analysis
– OSHA Regulations
– NFPA 1006, 1561, & 1670 Guidelines
– Supervising and Controlling Divers
– Interagency Operability
– Interview Techniques
– Interaction with Victimπs Family
– Media Relations
– Critical Incident Stress Debriefing
Course Schedule: Courses are provided on a year round basis. The only prohibiting environmental factor is ice. Please email or call for a current schedule or to set up training for your PSD unit.
Course Prerequisites: 18 years of age, ERDI – PSD Level II certified or equivalent*, 50 or more logged PSD dives, CPR and CPR OX certified, medical examination, and must complete EDRI liability and medical release waivers.
Course Length: Class duration is four (4) full, 8-hour days. The first two days are dedicated to classroom and confined water training. Days three and four are open water evolutions and scenarios.

* Public Safety Diver training from a recognized training agency – PADI, NAUI, Dive Rescue International, LGS, etc.
